The 2012 First Kicks and Fun Football prgramme In 2012 Fun Football incorporates both 7th and 8th Grades. First Kicks still incorporates all of Nursery grades from 4-6 years inclusive. The First Kicks and Fun Football season lasts at least 20 weeks, with at least two contacts per week. This is the minimum required to ensure that enough organized football is provided to motivate players, while at the same time drawing them into the game through developing their basic football skills.
This is how our season will look in 2012. |

A Football Festival is a replacement for a Game Day and ONLY applies to Fun Footballers. Football Festivals are where local clubs will get together and play football against each other. This will expose the kids to inter-club play and offer a fun session of small-sided-games. Football Festivals are organized by Capitial Football and directed by the local clubs. Game Days will take place at Tawa School between 8am and 9:15am every Saturday morning. Game Days can be cancelled if the local council closes it's sports grounds, or the weather is regarded to too harsh for enjoyable football. Football is a winter sport, so if the previous circumstances don't apply then we will run the sessions, in the wind and rain if necessary (The kids love it). Training Days will take place at Grenada North where we can make use of our indoor facility in the event of ground closure. A schedule for training days has not yet been set as we require volunteers to assist with the running of these sessions. Why do we need volunteers? Volunteer game leaders are crucial to the success of First Kicks within our club. The development and recruitment of good game leaders will help ensure a high-quality experience for players and achieve the overall objectives for this age group. Traditionally parents have coached/managed one team for a season, usually their child's team. Their motivation for getting involved has often centred on being able to share the football experience with their child as busy work loads leave little and precious family time in today's society. With this new model we are breaking from tradition and encouraging more parents to get involved with the First Kicks and Fun Football experience. Through volunteering their time as game leaders as and when they can throughout the season parents can enjoy and share the First Kicks workload with other like-minded volunteers. The new approach creates more flexibility for volunteer parents (parents sharing the load throughout the season) and more opportunities for parents to have a go at being a First Kicks game leader (getting active with their kids). Parents who enjoy the experience and develop a passion for the game leader role may volunteer their time more often than others but what is key is that all parents should be given equal opportunity to have a go at seeing actively involved with First Kicks and Fun Football. If you would like to participate and learn about the Game Leader role then please contact your AGC to discuss what training options are available. |
