First Kicks is for children aged 4 – 6 years of age and is played on Saturday mornings from 9am to 10am on the main field at Grenada North Park. Children must turn 5 or 6 during the calendar year to be able to play in this grade. Girls turning 7 in the calendar year may choose to play in this grade if they wish to.
The entrance to Grenada North Park is off Nassau Ave. Park in the carpark and walk past the buildings to the main ground (the small fields in the centre of the image below).
Our aim is to ensure maximum participation for all children, for them to have fun and develop basic football skills. At this age, we’re not so concerned with being competitive, so we don’t keep game scores. Parents are encouraged to make a lot of positive noise on the sideline and encourage their children and their teammates along.
Like all club activities, we are reliant on parent help to run the First Kicks programme. The more parents who actively contribute to these sessions the more the children will benefit. Please give consideration to whether you can take on one of these roles.
The key roles that we need assistance with are:
Grade Coordinator: Be the central point of contact for parents. Manage parent enquiries.
Coach: We need 5-6 parents to help run activities and games with small groups of children on the day. You will be provided with full support in this role including training and coaching plans to get you started. You don’t need to have played football to be great in this role – just a willingness to get stuck in and make things fun!
Cancellations due to wet weather or closed field are advised by the Grade Coordinator by 8:30am Saturday morning. They will send out a cancellation email to all families to the email address you supplied when you registered.
